I don't understand why Bilic doesn't give Fletcher, Calleri or even Martinez a chance before Zaza. What has he seen that none of us has?

El Scorchio 3:34 Mon Oct 31
Re: The Zaza factor
I think Fletcher is due a start.

It's clear that there's no faith in Zaza now if they are not even using his '16 appearances' as starts in order to maximise his playing time. The guy has tried, but we can't afford to sign him permanently on the evidence of what we've seen so far. No way.

At least it seems we were justified in sending Valencia out on loan. If he'd scored a bunch for Everton or not run away from the police, we'd be looking very very foolish.

Re: The Zaza factor
He's utter gash but wasn't that plain to see before we signed him for £20 odd million. It was clear that he was not a line leading forward. I'd much rather see that Spanish kid from Valencia given a go. What's the point of buying young talent only not to play them. 18 year olds have done alright in the past and will do again so have some faith. We've got no other real options and i'd like to see Antonio back on the wing. That;s his position. Not fullback or a striker.

How hard is it to see this FFS?

Taken from Football365:

Simone Zaza

Bad. I mean seismically bad. Zaza was only given 20 minutes at Goodison on Sunday, but his is the type of awful that makes you burst into laughter. Now over two months into his Premier League career, the potential saviour of West Ham’s attack has had one shot on target in 431 minutes. That’s fewer than the also appalling Arouna Kone has managed at Everton in less than 10% of the time.

Re: The Zaza factor
A lot of our signings this season have been ordinary or shit. On top of that DS was giving it large about £20m - £30m strikers and we got Ayew, Calleri and Zaza.

One isn't even a pure striker, one is our annual DS South American punt and zaza was actually £10m according to the Mirror...

Therein lies the WH problem. DS is in charge of our transfers and he has form for being a cheapskate. Lying is something new though.

Add that to the fact that Bilic doesn't appear to have much clue about organising a defence or spotting a 2nd choice player which will always be the preferred DS option while he demands CL football....

A disaster waiting to happen...

Name 3 good strikers that didn't get called up for Italy because Zaza was.

The bloke is fucking muck and so has most of Italy's strikers been for the last 5 or 6 years.

Unless we paid 13 mil to rent him for 2 months, but it can't be that high.

All these reports keep saying he has yet to score, but I think it's much more telling that he has yet to put a shot on target (and the 2 in the Accrington game don't count as far as I'm concerned).

Re: The Zaza factor
been very poor, but you don't get in the Italy side if you are a shit player. Looks lost playing on his own, is likely to be gone soon.

as for the rest: Nordvelt Calleri tore don't look good enough to start, haven't improved as yet and don't look like improving the squad over last season.

Masuaku - i think has as is a good back up for Creswell, which we didn't have before.

Ferghouli - haven't seen enough of him yet to decide, i think he will add something to the squad.

Its telling that of all these players only ONE isn't a loan or free transfer,(Masuaku) and he has probably been the best of them all thus far.

if you pay peanuts....

Re: The Zaza factor
His movement has been dreadful so far. Is he fit enough? He now had enough time and if he gets his chance he has to work harder and give the midfielders options.

It's all well and good saying he doesn't see much of the ball, but that's down to him as much as the other players.

Hopefully his season starts Saturday.

Re: The Zaza factor
I see this morning that the Mirror are reporting that Zaza will cost £10m for a permanent - yes that's right. Not £23m as originally reported but, just £10m!

I doubt our directors claimed the higher amounts but they did nothing to dispell the fact that he was supposed to be a £23m striker....

Ah well I guess we always knew they were cheapskates with big gobs.

In answer to your question, my opinion is that our team has been weakened because players that already don't look good enough at this level are in our starting 11 and making up our squad.

Nordveit, Tore, Zaza, Feghouli, Masuaka and Calleri are all so far terrible. No I'm not saying they can't improve and its not like the rest of the team have been great but from last season and some before we know what they are perfectly capable of.

When Nordeveit is getting in the team ahead of such a promising player like Obiang then yes it weakens our team and that's one example.

I also think Fletcher of what I've seen looks better than Zaza and Calleri.

Re: The Zaza factor
He does look a bit shit. But as mentioned he's not exactly see muchl of the ball.

Also if I've read things correctly he's used to playing as part of a front 2. And I've been saying for years that I hate all this 1 up front bollocks

SecondOpinion 9:59 Sun Oct 9
Re: The Zaza factor
Surely BASIC skills should be good at any level?

Passing, holding, running off the ball, tracking back, tackling, controlling, heading, awareness of where the ball and other players are?

Sydney_Iron 8:03 Sun Oct 9
Re: The Zaza factor
When have we signed a player that was dog shit and then suddenly became good? All this bollocks about getting used to the English game, finding his feat, TBH im really not sure what the difference is between football in Italy and England? Its not as if it’s a totally different sport is it.

Zaza may have been a decent player, but he certainly isn’t any more, Juve can have him back and im sure he won’t make there first team squad for very long, let alone get a game or spot on the bench.

Utter cliched cock rot. He aint good enough. Open your eyes. No doubt you was one of the posters who kept saying the likes of Valencia and Maiga just needed time, no to mention all the over dross we have bought from overseas.

Re: The Zaza factor
I personally think Zaza will come good soon and start banging in the goals. Prior to joining us he has never played for a club outside of Italy. It's just taking him time for him to adapt. the a different league, different tempo to the game and different language. Give him time!
